Amazing Stuff from an Ugly Bush

Youth Alive committee has requested me to take pictures and make a video of YES school, fantastic~ taking pictures for events is what would certainly help me to learn more about my 50D's functions and stuff!!!

But of course, not much to take when their having classes on, so took a walk around college and found a darn ugly bush, but... hey I guess through the ugliness there's bound to be some beauty to be found, so I checked aroud the darn ugly bush =)

And yeah, I did capture some nice shots~

This was a praying Mantis, not sure why it's black, maybe cause a baby so the green color hasn't came in yet??

My favorite shot!! Not sure what kinda bug is it...

If you wondered how I did some macro shots like those above with a 18-55mm kit lens which has no macro capabilities... well there's no special skill in it, I just took advantage of the 50D's 15.1Megapixels, and zoomed all the way out in my lens to capture a shot like this~

And... well using the capabilities of the 15.1Megapixel, I've cropped the area I liked~

like this~ and then cause the picture is clear, it has no problem filling in the clear details in a zoomed in close up~ it's all about using the camera to it's full extend!! And wahlah! u have yourself a cheating macro shot trick!!! Of course... I couldn't do this with my 300D since it only had 5-6Megapixels.. whoosh XD

lots of other photographers use this technique, and though it's cheating... but... I guess it's the only budget thing I can do since I don't have the money for a macro lens yet... and yeah comparing to a real macro lens, it can even capture the details of the fur of a furry insect like this~~I like macro photography, and I want a macro lens... anyone wanna sponsor me?? =P

I guess one CAN find interesting stuff even in an ugly bush~ =)

Ahh and to Poh Wei~ I shall do a post for you in comparison on the 50D and the 300D, from a semi-pro to an amature DSLR stuff, but next week la, left the camera at home while I'm staying in college now~ XD
