520

Been told by Eunice that today is May the 20th... meaning... it's the day where people get busy going around saying I love you~~

Actually I don't know why too myself... but she said that 520 in Chinese means "I Love You" in chinese.... which is known as "我爱你"

"................................................"

Not sure if she was testing to see if I know Chinese or not... but she said that she didn't make it up, and that it's been there for as long as she can remembers... hmmm...

520 woh........ even if you write chinese in 520 it would be "五二零" and in the other way it would be written as "wu er ling" which sounds far off from "wo ai ni" (我爱你) hmmm.... maybe someone just created a practical joke?? Or just some smart alec who tried to be romantic and that kinda worked so he kept it going till now??

The usual trend goes by 5201314... and the 1314 means "一生一世"... doesn't seem to have a similarity to it but it does kinda sound the same so... it's acceptable... hmmmm....

Decided to make a search on the internet about May 20th.... and this is what I got~~

  • 526 – An earthquake kills about 300,000 people in Syria and Antiochia.
  • 1521 Battle of Pampeluna: Ignatius Loyola is seriously wounded.
  • 1840 York Minster was badly damaged by fire
  • 1927: Britain recognises the independence of Saudi Arabia
  • 1944: Failed assassination attempt made on Hitler by his own officers
  • 1990: An estimated 2 million people across China protest Martial Law
  • 1991: The Soviet government begins allowing citizens to leave the country if they wished
Ouch.... doesn't seem to relate.....

Even on Birthdays on May 20th...
  • 1908: James Stewart, American film actor (must be dead)
  • 1915: Moshe Dayan, Israeli military leader (most likely dead)
  • 1946: Cher, American actress (is she dead~?)
Nothing seemed to relate to 520 neither does it relate to I love You.... hmmm

SO SO SO SO SO!!! I went to find my China friend and asked him to speak 520 in the original China's Chinese slang.... and he said it sounds really alike "Wo Ai Ni" which is I love You... mmm.... now it makes sense already~ for the China's slang context still can la, but our Malaysian mandrine slang... we're still far far behind =.=

Don't lar... 5201314??? Just say I'll love you forever bah... more romantic =)

Actually this post made no sense at all~ just wanted to clear this wondering thought in my head and to share this info with others who are denying the fact that 520 doesn't sound like I love you =)
