Custom Picture Styles

The Camera is now Personal Again~ XD

Yes I made a post earlier about those normal extra Picture Styles that you could download for your Canon DSLR and I hope that you all have been enjoying using it =P

But last week I came across this fantastic Taiwan photographer named Kevin Wang and what really surprised me wasn't just by how wonderful his pictures and colors are, but was because that all those pictures... well... none of them are post processed, meaning none of them are edited, just taken by itself naturally without any editing required...

How did he do that?? Well reading a magazine about him, he used to be into film photography, and it's no doubt film and digital photography is a different thing altogether, so that's why he started using Canon's Picture Styles and bringing it out to it's full potential... how??
Using the Picture Style Editor... he made his own Picture Style, and man oh man... it is wonderful how a picture can be taken and used instantly without any editing =P

By using this program he made alot of different Picture Styles that totally owns!! =)

Photoshop also can lose to this lo~~ haha... but yeah I know it's hard to explain without seeing it for yourself... so here is an example... borrowed this picture from his flickr website...
This is his custom Picture Style called "IR Style"

Which is also known as Infrared Photography, usually to take pictures like these you'd have to change the whole camera sensor to an IR sensor in order to make it possible, but he made some modifications to it, and wow... making the background to have an IR effect but yet the person is in colored focus... O.O"

He has alot more wonderful pictures, but would be best if you went to check it out yourself~~

Click here to Proceed to his Flickr Account

Must check out his Picture Styles section~ none of them are edited~ just clearly using picture styles!! =)

I've requested for his picture styles, but he only gave two, others must be cause of copyright purposes and stuff... so it's understandable~ but those two styles are wonderful enough!! =)

日式 & Similar Japan Picture Styles =)

What effects do they make???

Well......... shall show you some examples on a picture of mine, left is taken with a Standard Picture Style, and right is using the custom Picture Style

Oh ya... Cause to fit the picture size on my blog page, do click on the pictures to view it in a larger size =P
This is 日式, also known as Japanese Style, if you've seen most Japanese Photographers, most of them mainly have these kind of a picture feel to it, one of the main reason why I LOVE Japanese/Taiwan photography styles =]
This is Similar Japan Style, very similar to the Japan Picture Style, but yet it gives a much more brighter feel to it =)

After trying out the Picture Styles from Kevin I totally fell in love with it~ but it's only good mainly for portrait style pictures, and especially in taking girls... for guys... erm... not too nice for me -_-"

Got kinda hooked into it so went online to find some others, and found some from some Taiwan Forums, another wonderful reason why it's good to be able to read chinese =)
Zero Style, not quite sure what this does... maybe some over super Zero Negative feel?? Makes the picture look really distrort and ugly but... maybe not used for people shots but rather for maybe some other forms of Photography...
300 Style, haha... if you love the movie 300 you would love this effect, clearly gives a feel straight from the movie 300~

Post and shout that your from Sparta!!! XD
Vivid Style, gives a very vivid, filled color in the picture, this is a favorite for most people because... well... see the color boost it gives in the picture??? =)

A little extra contrast and saturation boost ~ it's one of my favorites now =P
Oil Color, kinda reminds you of oil painting, but not useful for every kind of shots, sometimes it looks nice for Portrait shots, sometimes it just destroys the picture... risky style but gotta know when to use it~~
Old Town... not sure why it's called Old Town, maybe used to photograph old buildings and stuff?? Hmmm....
LOMO!!! haha a favorite for most photographers also, bringing the lomo-feel into your DSLR~~ it might not produce a perfect 100% perfect Lomo picture compared to a real lomo camera.... but it's still nice, especially for urban shots, not bad for people shots too =)

Had 20 over picture styles but only a few stood out...

Was reading an old magazine I had then realized that Kevin was inside it teaching how to create your own picture style... wow...

So I gave it a try...
This is erm.... supposed to look kinda old... like vintage?? Not sure... I only know that I followed the tutorial step by step and somehow the effects doesn't come out like how he made it... something isn't right...

Either way, still working on it, hopefully able to perfect it someday~~
Loved Kevin's IR picture style so tried making one myself... kind of a failure too... not as nice as his, and the person in the picture isn't well colored... hmmm... hard hard hard~~ have to work on this again~ =)

Who's the girl in the picture...?? Er... well that's Wendy, haven't put up the pictures taken with her on an outing few weeks ago, soon la soon... wait ya -_-

But... Picture Styles are really fun~ still got much more to learn about the manipulation of colors... but for now, the Picture Styles in my camera??

Lomo
Vivid
日式/Japanese

Hehe... gonna have so much fun with them, and hopefully would be able to create other special Picture Styles like Kevin some day, now can finally produce a bit of the picture style I've been aiming to try =)

Oh ya... I've actually made a Zombie Picture style... makes people in portait pictures looks kinda like an undead... but too... erm.... not so nice to show larr~ XD

Haha hope you've been inspired to try out some special Picture Styles yourself on your Canon DSLR~~ Nikon??? Err.... donno... But I've heard they have something called Picture Control, not too sure, don't know much about Nikon stuff~~~~
