Photography Outing: Port Klang

Shall write about what I did at my raya holiday~ took a trip to Klang to visit a friend and to take pictures.... sigh... -_-"

Whew... normally Klang isn't really near from KL, and would require a 30min to 45min drive, and I felt lazy to drive so decided to take a KTM to Klang, because I THOUGHT that KTM was RELIABLE and FAST to travel around like LRT.... who would've thought...

Taking from Mid Valley station, had to wait 40mins for the train to arrive, then they dropped me off at KL Central, so gotta wait another 20mins for the next train to come, then when went inside the train had to wait another 20mins only it started moving... why???

And then... the train moved, slowly.... as in seriously slow!!! You could see a proton saga on the highway cruising by and even overtaking the whole train, THAT slow!!! Then for no particular reason it stops in the middle of nowhere.... sigh, and a 30min drive became a full 2hours standing trip on a darn slow train!!!!

!@#$%^& (destroy KTM)

Urrrrgh.... either way Seheel was waiting at the station in her little black Myvi to bring us around Klang, because the last time I was at Klang, according to her it was at the other corner, so this time she'll bring me to the other different corner~

She planned on taking me to go eat Bak Kut Teh, but the shops were closed... raya holiday... woorrrgh.... then went for Roti Canai, also closed, some famous cafe, also closed... urrrgh...

Well either way we stopped for this yoyo something drink, sort of like 7-11's slurpee but using other stuff, I had longan, they had bubu char char... interesting~ but their fried chicken is... woorrrgh~~~ =]

Sure kicks the bad mood from the KTM out of you~~

Well then we paid a little short visit to Port Klang, just a little small part of it~~
It was seriously darn hot!!
But you can't deny at times like these is where the sky is at it's most beautiful blue glow... surprisingly especially in Malaysia =)
Then spent some time teaching Seheel how to use her 1000D, really feels small in my hands~ but in the hands of a girl I guess it's just nice~ =)

Overall a good camera, but can't seem to find the button to activate the Live View mode for the 1000D~ whew =)
Tried doing this picture because of an inspiration by Olivia~ XD

There weren't many things to see because it's just a long stretch, and you see the ocean, behind's a weird wooden building... so just gotta make best of what we have I guess
Somehow the Japanese Picture Style seems to react kinda awesomly even in landscape photo's.... O.O
And Ahhhh yeah... on the boat you can see marking and drawings, mainly it's by people writing a confession, some even writing out of desperation... shall get to that part soon enough~~

Here we go...
"My name is XXX, 21 this year, average body shape"
Left: Looking for a boyfriend

Right: recently I'm a little lonely, want to look for a lonely guy to ease my boredom, I'm 20 years old... 2009/6/07 8:30pm, meet here"

At times like these when one looks upon this boat and the markings on it... I can only imagine how desperate Klang people might be~ XD

And in another way... mainly they are people in their 20's..... on don't worry I don't do that... yet~ =)

This one.... erm.... picture too small, lazy to enlarge to view~
Zombie Picture Style
Lomo Picture Style
Vivid Picture Style
This one this one this one.... oh ya, 300 picture style~ supposed to give a feel like from the movie 300, not quite sure though~~
Pidgeon, sort of like the only and first pidgeon I've seen in Klang... famous for crows I think...
And over at the other corner of the ship you can see markings of failure in communication and writings =)

Zoom in a little shall we~~??
Beep~ write wrong~~ XD
Beep! Another error~~
Successs~ XD
Ahh... but the sad thing is that you can't get on the ship, they locked the stairs going up, but it's low enough for one to jump over, but I don't wanna get caught in Klang....

Also tried doing a little HDR here since.... it's kinda famous for landscapes so... erm.... okay~~
Another HDR..
This is sort of like HDR, but rather I did another thing called Exposure Fusion... not really sure how much difference that makes, but I guess it gives a fair exposure in both fore and background~~~
Why do you tell me that?? o.o
300 picture Style
Japanese Picture Style... or was it Romantic Picture Style... hmm....

Well after awhile more it was really hot, so we drove off.... whew...
Pumping the new Ron95 fuel, decreases power~~ but she says it's all company gas~~

Oh celebrate!! XD
Then she brought me to the largest...
Biggest Jusco in Klang, the one I went last time was considered the old one...

But once you've gone inside, wah.... looks perfectly and exactly like the one in Cheras!! Building design all exactly the same... saving cost for an architect??????

Ahhh well not long later it was time to go home, one of the worse moments for me because I had to ride on the KTM again.... here's how it goes on the way back....

Arrived at the station at 6:08pm
Board shows that train will arrive at 6:16pm
Waited...
SUDDENLY board change saying train will arrive at 6:25pm...
then changed again, 6:34pm...
".................."
AGAIN!!!! 6:45pm!!!!
+Jialat+

Well to cut things short it was a depressing journey back, arrived at Mid Valley at 8:13pm... so it's like a perfect 2hours journey.... sigh wei.... transport system also STILL like this, vision 2020 how???? Now already 2009 going to 2010 d wei.... 11 more years, do something about it la... -_-"

either way I encourage everyone, unless you have high tolleration towards these nonsense, do drive, or take a bus, or maybe a taxi... though you might have to pay a BIT more, I guess it's worth it all because of the amount of time you can save and how much more you could do in life with an extra 1hour???

For me...?? Never ever on KTM... I still love the Putra and Star LRT line... I think they are the only ones that's reasonable to sit including the price too... other than that, I think I'll drive when travelling to such distances.... sigh sigh sigh~~

Happy Birthday Elly

Today is Elly's Birthday

in which alot of other people are having their birthdays on September, especially my sister's birthday being on the september 25th along with a whole lot~~ so yeah September is a busy busy month for people who buy presents~ XD

asked Elly earlier what she wanted for a birthday present and her answer was

"要你的相机! 哈哈哈哈"

In translation is means "I want your camera! hahahaha!!"

O.O

But yeah ended up she guided me to this certain website... called Odosketch... kinda weird name for a website but it IS a rather interesting website, so my duty was to draw a picture for her, sort of like my usual Cos drawings... but decided to do something different and draw something else, what I like about this website is that it shows the process of how you drew it in fast motion~

So yeah... this is it, and a very Happy Birthday to Elly, along with all the other September people~~ XD

Of course if you're using a Malaysian internet line.... be sure the flash thingy might take a bit more time loading, don't worry it's not your fault, just the country =)

Revealed

I know I have mentioned in my earlier post that I have gotten myself a new equipment... so... yeah shall reveal what it is~~ but those close to me has already seen what it is so... not really a big surprise already =P

Ahh yes... I got myself a new flash for my camera~

Usually for normal circumstances people would use models to pose for products, but I don't really see the point in that, since the model is always bigger size that the product, so shall use my little model to do the job for me =)
Back view of it...

People might wonder at the fact why do you need a big butt camera flash that will increase weight?? Doesn't the normal pop-up flash on the camera do the trick??? Well YES that is true... but often that might result in a very brightly lit image because you can't have full control of the light that's flying....

I too used to think that I don't need a flash, just increase the ISO is enough... well that IS also alright... but I came to a point where I found out my indoor shots were no longer satisfying in results, people's faces turned out looking pale, and no matter how bright the place is it still feels dim and gloomy in my pictures, especially for the people's faces that looks pale and liveless... zombies to say =)

And after comparing my pictures at the same place, same time, but only differences was that he had a big flash, and that made every single picture to look different, the colors was full, the whole image was brightly lit, I mean... it just looked professional~ XD

So does a big flash give more power in the light?? Well yes, and if not controlled well you can literally hurt someone's eyes with that amount of power it produces... that's why the advantages of a big flash is...
the ability to control where you want your light to fly towards, in this picture it's facing up, meaning that the light would be pushed up, and bounced off ceilings, walls, etc and producing a nice, fulfilling light source to your pictures =)
And turning it all the way to the back... means that you can bounce it off the wall behind you, to the ceiling, and onto the subject... yeah I know it sounds deep~ but just a brief way of saying that you get to fully turn the flash head around to whichever direction you want to have full manipulation of flash lights =)

But yeah the way I'm saying I also don't quite understand myself... so so so here's some pictures of differences~~
This is a normal picture taken in my room, where the light isn't powerful enough so I have to result to either using a slow shutter speed to absorb light, or just increase the ISO... but that would still produce an okay picture... but underexposed...
this is using the camera's in-build-pop-up-flash... you can control the amount of power it fires, but it still only fires straight, notice how overlit the main subject is, and how the light fades in the background making the background dark...
knowing that direct flash isn't good, so I used the speedlite and turned the head upwards so that the light would bounce up, and come down... sort of like you shooting a waterhose upwards and notice how the water spreads apart and falls down~~ noticed how well lit the picture is? From the foreground to the background~

and notice how the settings were all the same, and how much differences the flash can put to the picture compared to a picture without flash~~ =)

So yeah.. I have been using it for some events and I can say it's rather impressive, my pictures now look better indoor, for outdoor it's still a challenge, but something to learn slowly I guess...

BUT... haih... eventually need to get a diffuser, then one thing leads to another and there goes more and more money... arrggh... but trying to not buy anything else at the moment, enough is enough 0.0

Oh ya another more thing about using a speedlite, because you get a full manipulation of light and power, noticed in my previous pictures on how slow a shutter speed I need to use... normally holding the camera handheld would surely result in a blurry picture, BUT using a fast shutter count would result in dark pictures because the camera can't absort enough light in that fast speed...

That's where the power of a speedlite comes in, with the manipulation of light and power...
see what I can achieve with a shutter speed of 1/250 in the same room with the same light, but now with an increased shutter speed and taking the picture handheld, normally the picture would come out dark but the flash fills in the light perfectly... hey, it even gives the whole picture a completely different feel =)

The other two pictures are random but can prove to be a little example..

yeah well... so if you had a struggle whether to get a speedlite or not... I'd suggest you get one if yout the kind of person that takes alot of pictures indoor, or want that additional boost of light to brighten up your picture... it totally changes the feel of your pictures that's for sure

But... yeah I'm still very new with flash photography... so much more to learn about it, very hard~~

Well I hope this post has been a little helpful in letting you know how important flash can be in your photography, if you can't afford, hey it's okay the pop up flash works wonders too if you know how to control the light on it too, of course it'll take a lot more frustrative effort =(
