2X Converter

something new to play around with =)



yesterday while at chapel service the pro photographer came up to me asking why he couldn't call my phone and stuff... not too sure but I guess cause my phone already sot sot and nearing it's death.... even the buttons also pop out d.... eeek....

Either way, like the first picture, he passed that to me saying that he'll borrow it to me to use~

It's a 2x converter lens... err... ahah wow?

I guess some might be wondering what is this lens used for... erm... well usually photographers would get such a lens for their zoom lens, because they need the extra further boost in range to photograph stuff like photojournalist, bird people, wildlife, etc when it's better to take from a far...

and for this?? Well there's two types, one's a x1.4 and this here is a x2... usually it'll be white color but this one's black, maybe an older version though... and what this lens does is times the range you have, like for example if you have a 100mm lens, and if you attach it to a x2 converter, then it times two, so you get the range of 200mm =]

Then if you put it in a x1.4, well you get a times 1.4 length... kinda simple?? It's good in most situations, but there's also a downfall to it, as much as x2 might seem to be wonderful and beautiful... the problem too is that the aperture amount also will times two, like if you have a f2.8 lens.... it'll x2 which equals to f/5.6 which can be kinda bad in low light situations O.o

Not to mention my 17-40 f4 lens.... when times two would be f8 which is very hard O.O
At first I thought it could only be used with those specially high ranking pro Canon L lens... but somehow my 17-40 fits in it perfectly~~
looks kinda cool though...
sort of like a miniature big zoom lens~ XD

But not really practical la cause of the aperture amount~~
works too with the 50mm f1.8 lens, but a times 2 amount would make it a 100mm f3.6 lens~ whew~~

got good and bad la, and people say a x2 converter would decrease the sharpness too so that's why they go for a x1.4 one more... I don't know, haven't really tried it out yet though... but for the current lens I have, I don't really see the great need to use it yet though... hmmmm.....
